Jackson
About the Project
Jackson was dreamed up in 1895 by William H. Lillie for Henry Lund, royal consul to Norway and Sweden. Yeah. We know. A century later she was still mostly herself: original mahogany millwork, a stained glass mosaic at the landing, hand-carved mantels that just needed a lot less varnish.
Our clients were nervous about touching any of it, so we didn’t call it a renovation. We called it upkeep. Two original walls came out downstairs so the floor reads as one room. The stair, with its La Farge glass and copper-leaf ceiling, stayed exactly as we found it.
Out back, ferns and Japanese maples hem in a stone terrace and a proper flat lawn. For a family of five and a chocolate lab, that’s the whole point.
